Department of Agriculture Shellfish Toxin Levels

Report from the WA Department of Health

The findings remain mixed.  As with the last set of results, some beaches show a decline in domoic acid levels while other show an increase.  Again, we see this as very similar to patterns we have seen in previous domoic acid events.  As the clams slowly lose the domoic acid held in their tissue, the levels tend to bounce around.  It is a waiting game.  Samples will continue to be collected about every two weeks.  The next sample will be collected during the third week of January.
