On Tuesday, March 13, Washington State Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz presented the Port of Willapa Harbor a check for $1.4 million for for an energy innovation district and to revitalize the hardwood mill operation in South Bend & Raymond. There's still a lot of work to do here and in Olympia, so EDC Executive Director Jim Sayce sent the commissioner home with a 7-foot plank of local red alder to say thank you and to remind her of the value in Pacific County forests and industry.
